That Incredible Mortal Kombat Trailer Is Now A Series

Last June, the internet was floored by a fan-made concept trailer for a new Mortal Kombat movie. While it sadly didn't end up as a new film, it has got the creator a crack at a new series.

The clip's director Kevin Tancharoen has been handed the keys by Warner Bros. to a 10-part "webisode" series, which will focus on the story of the character Jax, who in a stroke of luck (and genius) will be played by the same man who played him the the concept trailer: Michael Jai White.

I wanna watch it!

Ahh man this **** will go so hard! Please let it be good! The last MK movie didn't have ***** on the first one except the fight scenes. I think with em just webisodes it will be better and a little more thought out.

They're not. Meanwhile, landing "Black Dynamite" as Jax? Epic.

I'm sure they have their reasons... probably an issue with how wide of an audience it'll get. Hopefully they get enough hits on the web series so they make a MK movie.

Yea MK is not as popular as it used to be but still a known title. I think a Call of Duty movie would sell out even though we get 3 war movies a year.

Good point. All those characters are gonna need some strong backstories.

It's cheaper and less risky.... Webisode will probably cost less than $3M total... if that. A movie would cost at least $30M.
Once again...

A series could be better in that the charcters' backstory and development can be more fleshed out (pun intended).

The problem with a movie is that there may be too many characters to introduce and develop in such a short time frame. We don't want it to become Spiderman 3.
