Source games stuttering on my HD 5870

I'm not sure if this is the correct board, but I think it pertains to the video card or video card settings.

I'm running a fairly strong system (sig rig) with latest drivers and pretty much default settings on everything, however in source games (so far confirmed in TF2 and HL2) after about 10-20 minutes of playing my game will start stuttering consistently every .5 seconds. After it starts its constant and consistent, this is both a video and audio pause. I googled around but didnt really get any useful answers. I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing.

If it means anything I'm running direct x 11 and on the HL2/TF2 options it says directx v9.0

EDIT: also tried messing with settings, stuttering happens with multicore support on and off

EDIT2: I notice i get this error on console when i notice the stuttering start.

Loading game from //MOD/SAVE/d2_prison_02.HL1...
ERROR: couldn't open.
Loading game from //MOD/SAVE/d2_prison_03.HL1...
ERROR: couldn't open.

Try different drivers. 10.10 or 10.4 maybe?

I believe they call it "micro stuttering" when it stutters at a constant interval. Anyway, a possible source of this is an unstable overclock. I would get this in Crysis when I had my 1333MHz RAM overclocked to 1600MHz. Needless to say I had to turn that down (and my CPU from 4.20GHz to 3.50GHz.

Is TRIM enabled on your SSD? Do you still get stuttering if you disable sound?

im running the second gen x-25m with latest firmware, i'm pretty sure TRIM is enabled, I havent tried disabling sound though, could that cause this stuttering issue? I'm highly suspecting the loading issues from the console

The game will run at default dx9; Doesn't matter if you have a 10.1 or 11 card.

Is it steam games or just source games?

It's just source games, it also doesnt affect my FPS at all, it just causes audio/video stuttering. It's still playable, but very annoying

That's not GPU problems, that's a sound/file problem. Uninstall and reinstall those games again.

Uninstall and reinstall your Sound drivers as well, be sure to do it the 'right' way by uninstalling, rebooting in safe mode nad running driver sweeper, boot back up into normal mode, install new drivers, restart... profit
