Very Loud Noise From PC

So I'm a bit shaken, I was literally just playing some BC2 and loving life and then my PC starts making this terrible high pitch scream, it sounded like capacitor whine from hell. Actually, humm as loud and high pitched as you can and that's what it sounded like. Naturally I freaked out and flipped the power button off as fast as I could. The noise quickly died off.

So I'm booted back into windows and I don't see any problems as of this time. No funky smells either. Last night my PC rebooted twice while folding, I believe its a RAM issue (because ram loves to fail on me). There wasn't a high pitch scream out of it either. So now I'm thinking that it's a pump, tubing or fan issue. If its a fan issue that's no biggie, I've got plenty of airflow and can order another one. I don't see tubing being an issue, I've got a couple bends and a 90 degree fitting but I've got some extremely thick tagon tubing.

If the noise occurs again I'm gonna take the dare and leave my PC on and try and diagnose where its. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Is it from your new GTX 570?

Not likely, I've heard capacitor whine before but nothing that incredibly loud. I honestly couldn't even explain how loud it was.

BTW, ordering a waterblock for it tonight

Niiiice!

Yeah, what I would do is just wait for it to happen again (if it even does, never know) and then try and listen to where its coming from..

But if its really loud like you say, it might be a pain in the ass to find out. Good luck finding out what it is, it'd be a shame for such a nice PC to have an annoyance like that.

Sounds weird, so the sound isn't there when you just leave the pc on?
