Thread Starter
I ordered my X6 1055t so I need to update my bios from 0405 to 0505 for x6 support on my asus crosshair iv formula and I was wondering has anyone ever used the asus ez flash 2 and is it the safest and easiest way for me to update my bios?

I just used it to update from BIOS 1000 to 1053 on my P67 Pro. Worked flawlessly, and very quickly.

Thanks for fast reply but is it a very safe method or is it a 80% chance of success kind of thing?

As long as you follow the instructions to the T its like fail proof.

I looked on the asus website and saw some picture guides and my plan is to load the new bios version onto a flash drive, I saw the E:\\ drive in the guides but just to make sure will my plan work with the flash drive?

It's no more risky than doing it off a CD or flash drive without the utility. Less dangerous, probably, because it pretty much cuts you out of the process entirely. As long as you provide the correct ROM file, it's fine. It does the whole thing itself, in one go.

Though I do think you have to use a Flash drive. I don't think a CD or DVD will work.

i believe cd/dvd drive will work too
but you'd waste a disc for burn them

the easy flash is pretty much foolproof, it will compare mobo and bios versions for you before flashing, if the flash is for a different board it give you warnings

I DL'd the BIOS, put it on my desktop, and ran EZ Flash 2. Used the file straight from the desktop.
Done this more than once.
