I purchased this baby a couple months ago an couldnt be happier. Payed under 300$ shipped with tax, is 1200p, the picture clarity is immaculate, not a dead pixel to be found, and has no input lag (at least as far as I can perceive). The downside is it was refurbished, which some people may balk at, but personally I couldnt be happier. It cam with all the cable, in the OEM packaging, and was absolutely immaculate; not a cratch on it.

just my $.02

Yeah, no problem, I was skeptical about a refurbished unit too, and wouldn't typically recommend refurbed electronics, but I was really shocked by how excellent the quality of the monitor I received was.

Also, didnt notice it was out of stock :s

Be careful when suggesting 2560x1440... it's a slippery slope from there and soon you'll need to upgrade everything else to accomidate that resolution. Stick with 1080P or 1980x1200.

16:10 screens are getting hard to find these days... even your Asus VW246H is 1080...

great asus screen... Picture in picture, ambient light adjustment, 2ms and a 3 year warranty.

you do know that the physical dimensions and aspect ratio from a 27" 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080 screen are different right?

placement has a lot to do with it too. a 27" screen set back 2.5 feet looks like a 20" screen at 1.5 feet...

a 1920x1200 screen of the same size diagonally vs a 1920x1080 actually has larger pixels... now arguing for 2560x1600 is understandable...

by VIEWSONIC - LCD MONITORS

you seem to have missed what you didn't read... by Viewsonic... Ships from and sold by Amazon.ca -- so you don't trust amazon for what again?

you do know that "high" price is canadian right?

i've never seen a hanns g monitor i'd want to own... always overdriven to hell and washed out.

3 year old model is trash... look at some reviews...

"Size is important, but so is quality. Hannspree’s 27.5-inch HF289HJB fits the former just fine, but its average performance makes us yearn for a better-quality picture to fill the massive screen."

" We’d rather spend the cash on a better-performing, smaller panel. "

"my monitor wont go in standby mode.. I've exhausted all options to fix it but cant... this is going back.. anybody have the same problem? -- Yeah, I had the same issue... I always had to turn it off."

"etc etc etc"

marduk666, get the Asus, the Viewsonic is over priced, and the hanns is junk.

i just got the ASUS V278Q 27 inch led today from canadacomputers.com locally for 329.99 CAD.

and boy oh boy. this display is flawless.
no ghosting. no glare. picture in picture and very very good contrast and response time.

take a look at the before and after shots.

before with the dell s2209w

after with the asus v278q

here are some shots displaying color output and contrast.

i still need to calibrate this thing.
i just started playing 1080p demo content music videos to break in the panel.
i also ran some dpt and so far no stuck or dead pixels.
here are some pics of some sample color testing.

just by looking at those you can see very little dithering and saturation in color and very very deep blacks with good white contrast. enough to distinguish the guys in the dark room up top from the dark black wall background. in many instances i was looking the asus and then looking across the room at my apple cinema 27 incher for 1k to compare.

this asus costed a total of 329.99 CAD.
this is a steal for a monitor this size and this much features and quality out of the box uncalibrated thus far.

my verdict. out of the many ips,pva and tn panel i got at home and work offices.
i would rank this as the 3rd best i have ever seen at this price. it doesn't beat the apple cinema or the dell ultrasharp but this is also 1/4 the price and very very impressive.

also i will post some HD video of this panel running both games and video as well as live testing to give you all a better idea of how good this panel is. i just gotta charge my kodak z13 first. and if you think these pics look good wait till you see how they look on a real hd camera. took these pics with my blackberry bold2.

oh yeah i forgot the important stuff.
