Like I said in my previous post (see previous page), you can achieve 3.8GHz by simply upping the multiplier to x19. Why bother with voltages if you don't need to?

Mental, try to get a stable 2600 mhz NB-freq and you'll see the speed increase.

Its much more noticeable than a CPU overclock.

Also when you play with the NB-freq, seems you need more vcore. I could easily do 3.8/2200 nb-freq at stock voltage. Bump my NB freq up and I need to pump more voltage to both CPU/CPU-NB.

Congrats on your OC though!

I tried to put my CPU-NB to 1.375, but it is not stable in Prime95.

My CPU temps goes up to 58-60 degrees under full load in Prime95 / IntelburnTest with my CPU fan at 100%.

Should I replace my Hyper212+ with a better heatsink ?
CPU-NB volts are too high for that frequency.

Add +.1volts to the NB highlighted in bold (not to be confused with CPU-NB)

Put your CPU-NB back down to 1.3volts and see if it works, 1.35 should be the MOST for a C3 chip. My C2 uses exactly those settings, and the NB is much worse on my chip.

Also, temps are a little high. Actually, temps are very high for that cooler in your case at that voltage - they are simply too high. Can you try reseating your heatsink/fan possibly? You should find at least a few degrees there, possibly quite a lot ...

Can you please run 12 hrs of a custom prime95 large ftt test?

Or a complete 24 hr prime95 pass?

Please do not round errors or use in place FTTS.

I have "stabilized" systems at the voltages you talk about but fail in the 24 hr prime95 test. Always BSOD's during the large FTT tests.

Also those temps seem fine for the CPU-NB voltage he's throwing.

I'm finding 0.1 volt to the CPU-NB to be roughly 3-5 degree difference on load.

Can you also explain what NB voltage will do? Most of the other people tell me that its only meant to stabilize PCI-E lanes (for multi GPU setups) or your FSB (which is a non-issue in this case).

I really want info on what NB voltage will do to our chips.

Looking at your rig, I guess you overclocked by FSB which the NB voltage would help (please correct me if I'm wrong). If we OC'ed via FSB, we could have ran lower voltage on other components.

If thats the case, disregard the beginning. Also what multiplier are you using for your NB?

Did 12 hours of Prime Blend at the settings shown, stable enough for me. I run my PC 24/7 no problems, but it's not 100% loading for days on end.

His temps do not seem fine for those CPU and NB volts, given his case and heatsink/fan. I am getting 52degreesC MAX on an x3 720 unlocked and overclocked to sig-rig levels. Shoot, I did (from memory) a 3668mhz @ 1.525v CPU and ~2632mhz 1.4v CPU/NB run and maxed at 55, hitting near my wall.

That's a C2 triple core unlocked and overclocked on a Xigmatek Dark Knight 1263 120mm fan. It's almost the same chip situation. It can't hurt to try reseating, and frankly I think it's worth any few degrees he can find.

As far as NB voltage - google. I believe it is the "motherboard-side" of the NB stream. The PCIe and HTLink are on the SB volts I believe. Some AMD motherboards have their NB voltage at 1.2v native, and some have 1.1v native. I have 1.1v too, and found that after researching and finding exactly the information I've giving now to the OP, my NB OC was stable with less volts.

Oh yeah, that's probably the difference. Way to lay some truth on yourself - OC via the FSB; it's the only way to do it. MUCH lower volts thus temps for the same frequency. Cannot be beat ...

The +.1v on the NB will still help regardless

If I could OC via FSB I would. My motherboard hits a thermal wall like no tomorrow. Yah for no cooling on the VRM.

And hey if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Sorry I came off like that. Its just frustration from not getting the temps I want.

Blah, now back to looking for heat sinks to shove on my motherboard.

Lol the UD3 series from Gigabyte seems to be the like an anemic child.

I have all the mounting points for the heat sinks and either I'm missing them like for the VRM or they just seem flimsy (NB/SB).

Well, the 870A-UD3 is a $100 motherboard. To be honest, I didn't expect much from it.

I wanted the cheapest upgrade when I grabbed my CPU/Mobo combo.
