Well I was thinking either getting a new heatsink, or a backplate.

heatsink

and the back plate

Only thing is that its an EVGA backplate Would have to get a sharpie or something lol.

I'd go with the new HS if you have the space, it'll help the performance alot... Also the EK backplates should be out soon - I'm not sure how they will work without a block, but I think it could be done.

I should have enough space...

This takes up 3 slots right?

Yes, it will take 3 slots. And, it is better that the 4th slot is not occupied so that the intake fans can breathe more freely.

Here is an installation of it onto a GTX580: (with nice pictures)

The backplate will help for 1-2C max but the AC cooler will contribute a lot. They are in 2 different price and performance categories. For thermal performance, get the cooler.

Think I'll get the HSF

I'll need to move my sound card then, and switch my TV tuner to the bottom PCI-E slot cause its smaller

I know the feeling, I had to do the ol' card-shuffle when I got my 570 since I decided to keep the other card in there for Physx. Also glad to see another 775 rig still kicking!

The stock Heatsink is good enough
and the back plate dosn't help much.

Spent your money else where
Or if you have the extra cash just get them both.

Why the HSF? The vapor chamber factory heatsink is better than any OEM config that preceded it. Unless you think you can gain quieter performance, I'd stick with the factory setup that vents outside the case. Either that or waterblock it.
