Overclocking Athlon II X2 220 - Page 2

The stepping code will tell you exactly what cores you have.

That board appears to have a sb710 so it should be able to unlock. Under "cpu configuration" in your bios look for "advance core calibration",set it to "auto" (or enable) and set "unleash" (or hybrid) to "enable" and reboot.

I would reset bios to stock clocks first before trying, with a little extra vcore for possibly four cores to run. If it should post but not load windows, go back and try "3 core operation" 0,1,2 and 0,1,3, in case one core is bad. This screenie may help http://home.exetel.com.au/feizex/BIOS%20no%20023%20option.jpg

Disable CnQ and C1E support also for now.

If it where to unlock your temps will go up too!

Thread Starter
As my bro's PC posts it shows the Asus splash with "2 cores are activated". Not sure if that means two more than what I had to begin with but it did boot and I checked CPUID. It shows Athlon II X2 220 and the normal 2 cores. I guess this is a failed experiment but thanks for the heads up.

+1 rep buddy.

I have the same board for my son and a lot of things in the bios are locked. What bios version did you flash the mobo with?

The 220 may unlock to an Athlon II x4. Try it. It may also unlock to a regular Athlon II x2 with 1MB cache/core though I think.
