Issues with removing programs

Thread Starter
Hey guys, Im not sure if this is the right place to post this,
but it is based on an Over clocking stress test program,
As the title states, I am having issues removing the Prime 95
stress test program completely from my PC. I have attached
a picture with this thread and you guys will see the Prime 95 icon,
it cant be removed, and as far as i know, i never installed Prime95.
All i did was dl the win7 64bit version and run it several times, and then
deleting it from my PC, but it refuses to disappear from my PC. This is not the first time, games as well, some games refuses to be fully uninstalled on my PC.
Even on safe mode, i cant remove them. I had to reformat my entire PC to
clear away some of those games. But about this Prime 95 thing. Any one knows
how i can completely remove it?

Cheers
Okita

This is indeed the wrong section. If you just want it gone from your system tray right click on the icon and hit close or exit

Well yea I tried that, it worked, but when i hit the customize button at the system tray, i will always see the prime95 icon, and 2 of them too(from the picture). Anyone encountered this before? Or knows how to fix this?

If I remember correctly prime95 is simply an exe, it does not install anywhere you just place the exe where you want. So just delete the exe and you should be fine. Just because it appears in that pic doesnt mean its installed.

This happens with most programs, even ones that don't install. They always leave behind something in the tray cache. I think the 'Tray Notification Cache' option in CCleaner will remove old entries or go into regedit and search for the program's name and delete the key.

It seems even with CCleaner and deleting Prime95 straight from the Regedit,
it still remains at the Tray Notification Cache Customization window.
Whats next? Gosh this things can be real frustrating

Why do you want to remove it?

Apart from this being totally the wrong forum, it's nothing to worry about

It's just a tiny icon file that Windows has cached somewhere. There is a way to completely clear that cache, but that'll get rid of all the icons there, until you run the program again, and it involves editing the registry.

Well it just bugs me to see some bugs like that. I did search the registry for Prime95, and i actually deleted it, then restarted my pc, i also used CCleaner, but to no avail, but if it is really gonna stay there, i cant really do much bout it.
But thanks for your help guys, well this also happens to some games that i install, somehow i cant really remove them, resulting in me reformating, but thanks for the help yall =)
