E4500 HTPC first time overclock - Page 2

I don't understand why you would want to make an HTPC draw more power than it needs to. My HTPC is purposefully left at stock because I like it using < 100 Watts, that means I can actually leave it on full time.

Still, if you're determined, good luck to you.

Simply put, since the birth of my son there is no space for another desktop in the small flat so this doubles as a budget gaming system when the lights are out. Thats the great thing about a PC, custimise it for your needs. Now if I had a HD capable fusion box at the other side of the tv then.....

Well I just finished 2hrs of stress tests in the office vostro at pen 2.9 and its so much faster! Perfect for a locked bios machine. Temps never even got above 52! Hmmm, maybe I'll install steam here too, just as long as the boss doesnt see...

Setback. Seems the Asus board doesn't like this Mod. Wont even post with the E4500 1333, 1067 E2200 1067... Oh well. Budget gaming system will now just work as HTPC again.

Now what to do next...

Make it into a real HTPC as per the first response? Could remove big hd5670 and put in a hd4650 that should be able to handle Blue ray... At least my vostro is faster, Thanks to you all for your help

Although not HTPC, I got my E4500 to 3.3GHz. Stable for around 3 years now.

Back again..

Think I just solved my DDR3 problem by getting a second hand E6750 with a 1333fsb off ebay. Now I got the option of lowering the RAM finally from 1333, 1067 and 800.

Should I just drop it to 1067 and raise the fsb or should I go to 800 and then raise it? I know I should be looking for 1:1 but that stuff just looses me...
