Mind you I have 7 on my gaming rig to benefit from DX11.

Did you trying disabling UAC? Once you do that, much of the irritating pop up inquiries go away.

Word. First thing I do with a 7-based rig is turn off UAC.

Windows 7 w/UAC disabled >> Windows XP. Saying that with XP on my sig rig--will switch to 7 when I build a new one. But Windows 7 is superior to XP in pretty much every respect, and functions SO much more expediently.

Oh man.... You liked Vista... Hated 7 and went back to XP? WOW.....
Glad to see that this thought is pretty much universal... IMO Win7 is the first worthwhile upgrade since XP, it just adds so much more functionality + new features. If you have a bleeding edge system, as most of us do, it's almost necessary to take advantage of all your hadware.

Fisher Price for sure. I always changed the theme back to the Win98/95.
OP needs a counseling session. Life changes, deal. And if you've been around for more than 8 years, operating systems also evolve.

Same here. I never liked Vista, too bloated and wierd, and wouldn't run on any of my devices (like my laser printer, my ink jet printer, my camera, my network adapters, etc.), nor would it run any of the software I need, outside of lameware like Office which runs on any vanilla system anyways.

I liked (not loved) OSX, but it jumped it's own shark when they stopped fixing actual bugs and problems, and just settled on ways of making it an unusable chunk of bloated eye candy.

Win7 is the first Windows version I actually liked. Sure, XP was adequate, sort of, in it's messy way - but Win7... Slick, I can run whatever web browser no probs, I can run whatever media viewer, no probs. And lots of applications....

did you have ultimate, cus ultimate comes with a DL of XP with all the adv. features of 7 like DX11 etc.

I wish I could -REP you. XP is still a great OS. You know what's so great about it? EVERYTHING WORKS! Unlike 7 where half of my older games wont even play, hell some steam games wont play.
Whether you like it or not, XP is the largest and most widely used OS in the world. And while 7 is definitely a move forward, it's not this almighty OS like OCN makes it out to be.
It's better yes, but it's not better all at the same time.
It's like adding horsepower to a sportscar, but then adding a whole crapload of weight to it too.

dont get me wrong, 7 annoys me too. but its fixable.
Finally someone that actually knows something.
