OK so I was doing some benching, running windows 7 ultimate x64, and I always put it in diagnostic mode using msconfig and have done this dozens of times but this time it doesn't seem to want to come back out of it or something.
So I just select normal startup like I have every other time and restart, but it still loads like windows 7 basic, no internet service etc etc just like diagnostic mode.

How do I get this out of this mode??? Device manager says everything is working fine...

OK, it's weird. After doing that, the internet works now but the windows are all still basic and nothing else works. No sound, and I cannot install any new programs. Very weird.

try setting it back to diagnosis mode, and then restarting, then set it back to normal again.

Hers what id try, 1st put in your installation disk and see if you can repair it that way.
if that doesn't help id try a recovery if that doesn't work id try reinstalling drivers.

OK so set it in diagnostic mode, then booted in safe mode to return it to normal mode.

Still the same.

System restore doesn't seem to be working, some kind of error. OMG

I will try the disk...
