CPU ratio setting fluctuates

Thread Starter
Hello all,

According to Real Temp and CPU-Z, my CPU ratio setting (multiplier) fluctuates. I set it to 28 in BIOS, but it fluctuates between 28, 27.5, and 27 and then back up again within a matter of 20 to 30 seconds or so, hence making the core speeed fluctuate between 3899 and 4004 MHz. I notice this while I am stress testing with P95.

Is this normal?

I'm running i7s but from what I'm learning about the p6t deluxe v2 do you have stepping or power saving features enabled?

Do you have Speedstep and/or Turbo enabled in your BIOS?

Yeah, definitely disable Turbo if you're going to overclock. And you better be overclocking with that Extreme Edition CPU...

Speedstep is a nice power-saving feature, though. Disable it while you're overclocking but re-enable once you're done.

Will do, thanks for the tip. I'm in the middle of a Prime95 marathon (fun fun), so I'll disable it later on!
