windows 7 64 bit fesh install is wacky

hello,

well i decided to reinstall windows 7 64 bit ultimate on my rig. after backing up all my stuff i went ahead with the clean install. at first everything went fine, after installing all my motherboard drivers i went ahead and installed the drivers for my 5770 and when i rebooted for the 5th or 6th time( after the 5770 driver install) the system powered on like normal but after the windows logo i just get a black screen. no blue screens no error messages, no sign that anything is wrong (exept for the black screen). what i then did(since the last driver i installed was the 10.12 catalys 5770 driver) was to go into safe mode and disabled both of my 5770's (i have crossfire) and then rebooted. windows started up like normal (exept for the resolution since i disabled the video cards). i then uninstalled the driver (10.12) and installed an older 10.10 driver and again the same thing happens. the only way i am able to boot into windows is by disabling the video cards in safe mode.

ive been googling and searching the windows KB for about 2 days now and ive had no success in finding a solution to my issue. has anyone else had a similar problem. i dont know if its a hardware issue or not ive tried booting with only one card instead of the two but the same thing seems to happen.

thanks in advance for all your help guys.

I would try for another fresh install, and possibly make sure your disk isn't messed up.

Does the system boot with a single GPU using the basic VGA drivers included with Windows 7?

@thrasherht the disk is not messed up did a check already everything is normal.

@MCBrown.CA yep the system boots up with a single or multi gpu when using just the basic windows drivers. it is not until i install the catalyst drivers that the system gets wacky

ok well i fixed it somehow. i think having my tv plugged into the hdmi slot of one of the video cards was making it act odd now that i unplugged it the system boots up fine.
