games recomendation for new pc gamer on budget - Page 3

Any PC gamer that hasn't played CS, CSS, and the Half Life series is strange.

I am close to finishing The Witcher. It is an awsome game. I am tempted to pay full price for the pre-order of The Witcher 2, and I haven't payed full price for a game in years.

Well it depends on the type of games you like. If you like first person shooters(FPS), I too would recommend the Orange box set (Halflife 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, etc.)
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is pretty decent as well. Although I still like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 more.

As for role playing games(RPG), definitely Mass Effect 1 and 2. Bar none, one of the best plots out there.
Also, Borderlands is pretty cool it's basically a FPSRPG.

For in my opinion the best all around military/shooter game Battlefield Bad Company 2. Awesome replayability. I think it's under $20 on Steam now.

im assuming you want somewhat recent games.

RPG:
-Dragon Age: Origins (ultimate edition that adds its expanion and all the DLC can be found cheap and you get loads of content)
-Fallout 3 (GOTY has all of the DLC, cheap and loads of content aswell)
-Mass Effect 2 (EPIC, really good story and fun third person shooter.)

Racing:
-Dirt 2 (fun driving and tracks and its online is great)
-NFS: Hot Pursuit (its a very arcade game, but great nontheless)
-NFS:Shift (this is a much more simulation heavy game, a very underrated game, very unpolished, should probably wait on SHIFT 2 coming out in a few months)

Fighting:
-Street Fighter IV (the Pc does not have many fighting games)

Shooting:
-Grand Theft Auto IV (possibly the best GTA game)
-Bad Company 2 (FPS, GREAT multiplayer, give it a try at some point, very good team-based game.)
-Half-Life Series
-Bioshock (good game, good story, nice atomsphere)

Other great games:
-Portal (MUST PLAY) -cant find any decent video review-
-Batman Arkham Asylum (even if you dont like or care about batman, its a very good game)
-Assassins Creed II (great game, its gameplay is very fun, short)

if this is your first PC Game, id say the best deal you can find is the Orange Box.

you get Half Life 2 (and Episode 1 & 2), Portal (possible the best PC game), and Team Fortress 2 (many people love it, i personally dont.)

Use Steam for newer games. There will be deals on now and then. For now grab the Orange Box and play HL2 and Portal and try TF2.

http://store.steampowered.com/

For good RPGs with mad deals (sometimes), go to GOG: http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/

And get Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and Fallout 1 and 2 when they go on sale. They usually come down to $5 now and then. Since you said you only want to spend £10 or less, get Baldur's Gate 2. The graphics aren't beautiful and the pathfinding is awful, but you have a 50+ hour main storyline and 150 hours of sidequests- as well as endless replayability. You'll be gaming for a long time. Mine as well get the best RPG out of the way first.

If you really like Baldur's Gate, get Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment off GOG and Dragon Age Origins off Steam.

If you really like Fallout 1 and 2 get Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Borderlands all off Steam.

Crysis Wars is cheap, great, but dead...

RPG you say? Get a gameboy emulator and play effin' Final Fantasy VI

Dig the music "Terra's Theme" and then 3 years later randomly obtain Distant Worlds II at ridiculous sample rates to hear it again, realize Terra's Theme isn't even the best tune on the album, discover Susan Calloway and fall in love.
