memory problem with ASUS P8P67

This is, perhaps, the worst motherboard I ever had the misfortune of working with.

I have 16GB of g.skill DDR3-1600 RAM. When I first bought them, I loaded all of them in and it wouldn't even POST. After reseating them, it booted, but only recognized 8GB of RAM...at 1333 speed.

So, I upgraded the BIOS to version 1003 (not beta). The board exhibits identical symptoms, except after two or three boot retries, it does recognize all 16GB of RAM, but at the same 1333 speed.

Ctrl+I will not work to get into the RAID menu.

After upgrading my BIOS, the CPU temp also mysteriously jumped TEN DEGREES.

Is anyone else having this much difficulty getting this damned thing to work properly?

Try the beta.

Also, did you buy a pack of 4x4GB or 2 packs of 2x4GB? If you have 2 packs, you pretty much have to increase the voltage/decrease speed. 4x packs cost more than 2 2x packs because they are guaranteed to run at their ratings.

Which P8P67 did you get?

Just curious for my own reference.

P8P67 Pro.

Is the beta newer than the 1003?

My experience with the P8P67 has been completely trouble-free. Everything worked from the get go, even with the shipping bios. There have been, however, quite a few problems reported by numerous users across the net. Makes me think that the quality of the hardware you receive is hit or miss with this particular board.

Sounds like user error. Most ram needs to be manually setup.

Higher temperature probably because of higher voltage.

So it's normal behavior for it to be recognized as 1333 until setting it?
