My New system (Advice Please)

Hello,

So this is the new system i am going to have here very soon and i am looking for any tips/advice, one major part i am unsure about is the PSU.

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV EXTREME
CPU : Intel Core i7 2600K OC'd to around 5ghz Liquid Cooled by EK Waterblocks
Aerocool Touch 2000 Touch LCD, Temperature Display and Fan Controller
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91
GPU: Dual EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 Liquid Cooled
RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Hard Drives: 2x Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1CCA 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC
Monitor: 2x 24" Monitors

I'll also have a Blue-ray player/CD/DVD Burner.

6,000$ budget.

what do you need to know?
did you already buy it?

You should probably get some regular hard drives for data storage rather then wasting SSD space on storage, get something like a 1 or 2TB hard drive to go with it.

where are you buying this from?

To be honest, although that PSU is a great unit, it's overkill for your needs. A decent 850w power supply such as the Antec HCP-850w, HX/AX850 from Corsair, or the X850 from Seasonic will power your system fine.

Unless you're futureproofing your computer for a future video card upgrade to tri-SLI, I would recommend the above power supplies. The CPU and motherboard choice are great. No complaints there.

I'm not too sure about the RAM, but personally, I would use something from Mushkin (like their Redline, Blackline, or Ridgeback series) or G.Skill.

What about the case?

This build should turn out great. Happy building!

I'm having Origin build it, i don't have the tim to do it myself, going through CCNA classes and work is eating all my time atm.

As far as storage i currently have a 500gb in my M17x i got 2 years ago and have yet to fill it up past halfway so those 2 SSD drives would be all i need for actual storage space. If i didn't get 2 of them then i would get 1 SSD and maybe a 10,000 RPM WD raptor.

I have not bought it yet, i will in a week, waiting on tax funds.

that PSU is overkill just like zhanger said. if they have an 850watt option go with that.

Also the ram is kinda a bit much, you should only need 8gb of it. Unless of course you are actually doing something where you know you need that 16gb, 8gb should be plenty.

what are you going to be using this rig for? I would say drop an SSD and go with a few Velociraptors. If you want you can go with RAID 1 so that you have redundency.

RAM
Actually OP only needs 4gb unless you are doing something RAM intensive. Gaming is not RAM intensive at all so unless you're running virtual machines and stuff like that 4gb is all you need.
CPU Cooling
I take it you are going for the EK Supreme HF?? If you want to save a little money go with the XSPC Rasa which performs about 1C worse then the EK block but it does cost $30 less.
Powersupply
Are you planning on going with tri-SLI 580s?? If not then go with a quality 850 watt power supply. The SeaSonic X-850 is probably the best 850 watt power supply you can buy. The Corsair AX850 is also right there with it.

If you do plan on going tri-SLI then go with a better 1000 watt power supply such as the ABS SL1050 if you can find one.

He is having a company build it, so there is most likely limited options for cooling, I highly doubt that they carry the rasa kit as an option.

It's not a kit. It's an actual CPU block.

If you can't get it then it isn't a big deal.

Actually Origin will put in anything I want. So an 850 corsair PSU sounds fine.... I also forgot to mention i'll be running 2x 24" monitors and I do tend to use alot of ram, it's not uncommon for me to have 20-25 web pages open while gaming as I am allowed to game while I work.

With page file enabled, I've had an 80 MB Microsoft Publisher document, Winamp, an MMORPG, Google Chrome with 30+ tabs, MSN, F@H, and many many Word Documents open and I've only managed to load up 75% of my physical memory.

Granted page file is enabled for me, but I see no reason to turn it off as I'm not going to rage if something doesn't open the instant I click on it.

If your work demands 16 GB of RAM however, by all means. I'm just giving you my experiences.
