Trouble with Xbox Live

Thread Starter
Hey there OCN. Just got my xbox at my new place and im having trouble getting it hooked up to live. It connects to the local area network, but will not connect to the internet from there. I think this probably has to do with the internet here; before i go online on my laptop's browser, I have to accept this place's network terms (ie, no porn, violence, etc) before I am able to use the browser. However, I dont exactly have this option trying to get on xbox live. My buddy has the same problem getting his ps3 hooked up online. any suggestions?

yeah, the firewall they're using requires you to visit via a web browser, so that may be the only way.

I've been trying to hook up to live by using a network bridge (xbox connected to laptop via ethernet) because I dont have a wireless adapter and thats how I usually do it. Are you talking about something different?

Made a bit of progress. I set my IP, subnet mask, gateway, dns, mac address, and host name to the same as my laptop. Now when I do the test to get on xbox live, it not only connects to the network, it says it connects to the internet -- however, it says I need to adjust my MTU settings to above 1364. I am not the network administrator here so how could I do that?
