sli usage seem right?

Hello, i am Running with 2 9800GT one is a XFX the other is EVGA, they are sli on a ASUS P7P55D mobo, with a ASUS SLI bridge tape. Running the EVGA precision tunning program i am able to monitor the usages, temps, etc. and even change clocking speeds. with having the sli bridge on the cards i can no longer tune one cards clocks different from the other; witch leads me to believe they are actually sli'd.
Problem lies when i play a game like DMC4 or COD on my 32" Toshiba (HDMI connected) to my EVGA card, and on my Dell 19" I have my gadgets and what not (temp, voltage readers, EVGA precision) off my XFX (DVI connected). EVGA precision is telling me my EVGA card is running with usage 60%-100% while my XFX card reads 0%-2% usage as i play.

So question is 'During a true SLI do do both cards take on usage?'

Sorry if already been posted but threw the FAQ and search i have not found an answer.

Also it seems my ASUS P7P55D is cheapin out on me, >_< the first PCI 16 that has the EVGA 9800 in with on chip power, has x16 in the slot.

Where as the XFX 9800 (no on chip power straight from power supply) is in another PCI 16 slot witch i thought was the same just different colors, there same length in all. but its only x4. now on a side note sine my EVGA is able to get power from direct power supply, while my XFX needs mobo power should i swap the two? or dose the x4 and x16 make that much of a difference?

Well sli does mean that both cards do take on usage. However I just tried out my gtx 470's in sli and similar thing happened as yours. In a less gpu intensive game only the first card was at about 40-50% and when i played bf bc2, both cards went to like 95%. Not sure but maybe the games/drivers need support for proper sli?

thank you. possibly COD and DMC is not a graphics intensive game to bother the card 2, i know cod 4 actually has a dual card setting i think i might want to try that and see if it uses both.

If SLI is working properly, both cards should show identical usage (within a % or two at most) at pretty much all times while actually playing (not in settings or loading screens, iow).

Having one card at real high usage and the other not while gaming almost certainly indicates that you're getting no SLI love on that game, almost always cause there's no SLI profile for it (or the profile points to the wrong .exe for the game)

The Driver will NEVER just kinda decide "oh hai this game is easy I won't bother to use the second card!". If the game is super easy, you'll just get (the same) low GPU usage on both cards ... of course, provided there's an SLI profile, and it's properly pointed at the .exe you're actually running.

so dose anybody that have some good knowledge of the cards know where i might be going wrong with the SLI setup. where can i find a profiler program?

Never mind problem self solved. on the count that i am half retarded. the P7P55D dose not allow SLI, but dose ALLOW ATI cross fire. With the ASUS sli bridge tape makes my cards have to be clocked the same to the degree of using EVGA precision.

Ummm ... what?

Also ... did you get the LE version of the board? Man ... never get those

Sounds like you'll be wanting to try the ol' SLI hack on that bad-boy.

Also ... the word you're looking for is "does", not "dose"
