Looking for FM transmitter Sansa Clip--> Car Stereo

I wasnt really sure where to post this, so here it is in Home Audio.

My GFs Jetta doesnt have an input jack, and I dont plan on upgrading the head unit anytime soon. There is a small library of CDs in that car that get lost or scratched, so I would like to clean it up a bit.

I am planning on buying a larger memory card for her Sansa, so that I can transfer as much music to it as possible. The plan is to use a FM transmitter to get the sweet sounds to the car speakers. I started looking at some, but got a little confused by the reviews.

Are these transmitters all the same or what? Should I just buy the cheapest thing I can find? Is it possible that some of these units transmit the sound better than others?

Thanks for any help.

What I've found is that most aren't very good, and has a big thing to do with what kind of area you're in. If she has an aftermarket head-unit there should be an input on the back in the form of RCA adapters, you can just get a Red-White>3.5mm cable from Radioshack or BB.

Wireless FM transmitters suck. Get a FM radio modulator, way better quality.

No its the factory unit. It has a built in 6 disc changer which I like, so I dont plan on replacing it. Its a 2006, but still doesnt have an aux input.

Hmm never heard of those. I will look into it. Thanks.

Any particular brand I should look for, or are they all the same?

I bought a Metra FM modulator for around $10 on ebay. This is one of the cheaper modulators out there. I do not know if different brand will be better ( as in sound quality).

Here are some $10 ones

So all these modulators just plug into the antenna in the back of the head unit, or is there more wiring that needs to be done? As far as music quality goes I just dont want to hear any static from the unit.

Yes, it just plugs to the back of the head unit. Some might require 12v power (connect it to the 12v lighter). My modulator has a hint of static, but it's not as noticeable as FM transmitters. Like I said, maybe other brands might have better sound quality than others.
