So to those who have just two sticks in the black slots, are there any issues?
i've got mine in the black slots, no problems, some users report better overclocks or better stability with gskill ram in black slots

it's supposed to do that, it's called vdroop, set it to high for a lower top voltage and low for a higher vcore. i remember my asus p67 deluxe had an offset you could set to affect vdroop but msi dosn't have it

Cool thanks. I tried it today and it ran fine. I have another question about this board, Vengeance RAM and the Venomous X w/120mmx38mm fans. I might possibly get a Venomous X, but can't find any definitive answer on whether a Venomous X will fit with larger(thicker) fans. I found one thread on a forum where the user had regular (25mm thick) fans, and it looked like it was right up to the first black slot:

The Ultra KAZE fans I want to use put an additional 13mm to that. Wouldn't then NOT fit, especially if the Corsair Vengeance RAMs are 63mm high?

Does anyone have this cooler and this board and can confirm/deny my ability to use it?

Hey guys I just bought this mobo and a 2500k and want to clock to ~4.8 (and maybe 5ghz if the chip is good enough). For 4.8 are these settings good enough?

48 x
Core 1.40v
CPU IO (VCCIO) 1.17v
System Agent (VCCSA) 1.185v
PLL 1.9v

Enable: Execute Disable Bit,
Disable: Limit CPUID Maximum, Power Technology and OverSpeed Protection, Intel Virtualization Tech and C1E Support

All your voltages seem high. It shouldn't be necessary to change CPUIO, System Agent, or PLL at all.

So leave those on auto and just up the cpu voltage and try for 4.8? I forgot to mention: it's a GD65.

CPUIO is for RAM overclocking. Keep at 1.05V. Try to stay below 1.08V, but if necessary (RAM instabillity at high frequencies), bump it to 1.15V or something. This setting is irrelevant for CPU OC'ing.

System Agent should stay @ 0.925V. Don't go over 0.975V. This setting is irrelevant for CPU OC'ing.

Some sources say that CPU PLL can help stability and some say that it can't. Should be 1.71V < CPU PLL < 1.89V. Some people have actually seen increased stability with lower voltages, so if you're right on the edge of stability, try first lowering and then increasing this voltage.
Just set them manually to the voltages here and up Vcore as necessary. 1.4 V should be enough for 4.8 GHz.
