No. The USB 3.0 motherboard header is different from the USB 2.0 header. The USB2.0 header is your standard 9-pin motherboard header. The USB3.0 is 20 pins I believe.

There's no universal USB3.0 motherboard header since Intel hasn't made one yet, hence a real dearth of cases with embedded USB3.0 front ports. Pretty much all cases now that come with USB3.0 ports in the front are just running extension cables off the back panel USB3.0 ports, running them back through the case to the front. Really ghetto imo. Corsair's updated front panel for the Obsidian cases does this too.read more

I think some of you soon-to-be-owners are confused about what I did with the USB3 PCI panel.

I took the piece from the top right in the following picture:

This comes with it, and plugs in to the furthest most blue 20-pin header on the right:

And modified it into:

How is the heat on this board?

I'm a watercooler and intended to water cool the CPU and GPU, but not sure about anything else.

Is there anything in particular that gets a bit warm?

Yeah, my rig's water cooled too. Still have case fans for intake/exhaust though. The visible heatsinks get warm (particularly the one north of the CPU, I think it's VReg), but not so hot you can't touch it. I presume it's from being overclocked and running at 4.8ghz 24/7 without a dedicated CPU fan.

On your test rig setup, you may want to get a small fan going on there. Something like an Antec SpotCool fan.

PS. Really dig your site and reviews Martin!

I was in the same boat as you but I pulled the trigger and so far I'm happy with it. The board hasn't arrived yet so we will see. Unless you must have an ASus board, I think these boards are pretty decent as well and should be considered.

So this concerns me making my new build...so are all of these affected?

edit: Is the chipset fixed with the B3 revision that I see around?
