When you power up is your OC Genie button lit up? Perhaps the button was pressed accidentally?

Then it's likely not agreeing with an initial setting of your hardware. Have you been able to get into windows to download and flash your BIOS? The one thing I REALLY like about the newer MSI mobos is that you can use a USB stick now and just flash from within the BIOS via m-flash. It won't flash your IME firmware, but you can do that later in dos.

If you haven't flashed yet, I'd definitely start there. 1.4 had a ton of issues (not sure which version the b3's are shipping with) as did 1.7 for many folks. Up higher in the thread is a link to 1.9b1 which is working great for me so far.

Good luck!

Is 1.8 an Ok BIOS, or should we upgrade to 1.9b?

1.8 seemed like they worked out a few kinks, but it still had memory compatibility issues. There's little harm in trying out 1.9 if you're having any issues. I'm on a b2 board and being a little reckless with my settings as I want to find the optimal settings before I get my "permanent" board.

For the obnoxiously long boot up time of everything 1.8 and before, 1.9 is definitely a nice update if you're not running 24/7. The changelog is huge. Haven't had a chance to test USB3 performance yet, but I presume this fixes the gap between the P8P67. Just don't have a spare SSD and USB3 enclosure to bench it. My USB3 hdd and thumb drive already reached their limits long before the USB3 threshold.

Just be aware that they upped the auto voltage, which seems like a hack to guarantee stock system stability right from the box. But if you're running stock or near stock there's no need to leave your vcore that high (1.30).

I haven't even been able to get into bios yet. It won't stay on long enough to do anything. Just tested it with a brand new power supply. Still doing the same thing. I think it's a problem with the motherboard. Time to call newegg.

Just to rule out what should be the obvious, cause someone on the MSI forums did this- you did plug in the 8 pin CPU cable to the motherboard right?

Another thing to test is your RAM. If it's not seated firmly in DIMM A1 (the closest slot by your CPU), that could definitely cause a repeated loop as the board is looking for the RAM, and trying to establish a FSB match connection. If it's seated firmly, and is in A1, (I recommend troubleshooting with one stick only) I'd swap sticks, and see if it posts then. If not, test the memory in another machine.

I'm sure we'll get this hammered out!

Thanks, guys, I ended up grabbing two kits of ram - one with normal-sized heatspreaders, the other with the kind I was going to grab before, so I can fit the heatsink there with all 4 sticks of RAM.
