one more thing if i may ask but this is to anyone playing cod4 promod but since my new rig should be able to hold 250fps on lock im getting fps fluctuations on all maps, my fps keeps flickering from 250-245 on all maps where as with my old rig which wasnt suitable for gaming with higher end more intensive games i was able to get 250 stable on all maps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ty

2. It's likely your CPU that doesn't OC well.

3. Well, is it a CPU or a GPU bottleneck?

tbh im not to sure if its a cpu bottleneck but im 100% sure its not a gpu bottleneck as in my old system with a amd 9650 @2.8ghz i was able to get 250fps on all maps and the reason i upgraded to the i7 2600k was to be able to get a stable 250fps without any fluctuations in fps. im only asking this because i know players with lower spec than me getting a solid 250fps and im not sure what my problem is, ive tried all possible updates with regards to drivers and configs but with no success

Use GPU-Z or Afterburner to check GPU load and use Task Manager to check CPU load.

Also, saying that you know who get 250 FPS doesn't help me 'cause I have no idea what settings you're using. I get about 150 FPS at absolute max settings and my PC is significantly faster than yours, so I'm assuming you're using low settings or a special config.

my gpu is under 100% load but my cpu is only going to about 20% max

im playing on promod servers as im a competitive gamer and play in leagues and cups most nights, promod mods the cod4 files and 90% of professional gamers play with 250fps maybe you should try a promod server out and test what i mean by the 250fps. Im playing @ 1920x1080 4xAA no specular or glow or nay of that **** and all textures set to extra with 16xaf, on my old system i used exactly the same settings and got 250fps on most maps with slight flickering but now i cant get 250fps at all and should be able to.

You shouldn't have any issues. I have a Silverarrow which is pretty big that clears just fine with the GD65 and my ripjaws. You should although check the dimensions of your case, etc and see if it fits there as most heatsinks don't have clearance issues with boards, ram. The only ram that comes to mind atm that may have clearance problems are the corsair vengeance. If you're worried about the ripjaws x being to tall, then get the snipers as they pretty much equal in performance and I believe they are shorter.

Mate, you're GPU bottlenecked badly. This has nothing to do with the CPU or motherboard. Try GPU overclocking.

Also, I'm currently in the competitive Black Ops squad in TG and on Clanbase, we're number one on the 5v5 TDM ladder and the 3v3 CTF ladder. We're 3rd at 2v2 TDM and 4th at 5v5 CTF.
Besides that, we're currently expecting to win the SnD, CTF, and TDM groups in the Spring Cup.

i have overclocked my gpu since ive been having this problem but it hasnt had any significant impact tbh

my gtx260 was running at 590/1200/999 but i overclocked it to 645/1400/1200 stable

ty for your help so far and gl with your team in black ops even though i hate the game tbh i'll just stick with cod4 and buy a gtx560 ti as that gfx card is within my current price range

I allready have ripjaws x installed in my system. Atm i have Corsair H50 installed but it needs really high rpm fan/fans to keep cpu cool = loads of noise so would want to replace it with megahalems or super mega as those works fine with mid/low speed fans. Case cleareance is not issue, i allready had noctua D14 in this case which is same height than megahalems. Just would want confirmation that these rams fits with mega before ordering it.
