Would this RAM work with this board?

Thread Starter
Asus KGPE-D61 with 8 sticks (so 4 packs) of G.Skill Ripjaw

If not, what kinda ram would fit (that isn't too expensive, since my budget can't really go up more than another hundred bucks, and I'd like 16GB of ram with this)

I'm also putting in 2 Opteron 6128's

Have you gone to ASUS's web site and looked at compatible RAM for that board? Good luck on your build!

Yeah, I reckon the RipJaws will work fine in that board. Looks compatible by looking at both specs so should be good!

EDIT:

It would maybe be a better idea to get these. Never tried them myself but have heard good things about Corsair memory. RipJaws are more gaming oriented whereas Corsair pretty much does the lot.

This would be more used for video rendering, and from what I've seen, this board doesn't support quad channel ram, just dual.
The faster the better for this thing. Don't need the operating frequencies but I need the cores (thus why my sig rig wont cut it anymore)

The board is very strange, I can't seem to find it on the ASUS website.

But for video rendering, I suggest getting the highest frequency RAM you can. It would save time on your final render (If the render contains a high number of polygons etc) because the computer can just offload all the data to the RAM really quickly, and access it at when it's needed. The higher the frequency the higher the write/ access speed of the RAM, and the faster the render.

Hope this helps

more likly than not that board has no ajustment for timing and voltage, so the ram will default to 1333 9-9-9-27

Best then to get 1600s or 1866s, for sheer speed.

1866s

It supports up to 1333MHz
I'll check around tomorrow for seeing if it has bios that are any decent...

Dammit. Why do awesome boards always have such limits?
