I will need help overclocking the CPU, GPU, and memory.
It would be nice if someone could link me to some overclocking resources such as temperature monitors, voltage tweakers, benchmarks, and most of all, guides.

- I will be using this rig mainly for heavy video production, audio production, picture editing, graphics creation, and flash animations. Down the line, I may wish to get into hardcore gaming.
- I wish for this rig to be usable until around 2014 or 2015 when intel comes out with Rockwell.
- I will be using Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Thank You.

go SLI 580's and drop the Ares. its too much money for such littler performance. pLus, the 580's come with more vram and overclock like the dickens.

oh, and go triple screen as well, it will explode your brain while gaming.

That would work perfectly

mmmh, I feel silly saying this(again)but rather replace the H70 with a XSPC Rasa 240/360 kit? Might get you a few hundred Mhz for extra future proofing if you would go with overclocking the rig and if instead of pumping high flow through the small rad of the H70 you could setup a nice slow fan speed rig. . .quiet and all

Still that's a

rig. . .

Like wompus said, go with sli 580s. Ares is way overpriced for the performance and I believe the newer versions of Sony Vegas and premiere pro will have cuda rendering.

the other thing that stood out to me is the mouse. don't just get some freebie mouse, buy one that feels comfortable to you. coming from a fellow video editor, mouse comfort is vital when editing for long stretches. same applies to the keyboard and headset.
Instead of H70 why not get NHD14, also are you going to need Ares if you are not into hardcore gaming? Also will you need 1200 PSU as well? I think 750watts is enough or 850Watts

SR-2 and Xeons.

Heck, you could get an SR-2 and 2x quad-core xeons and not spend much more money than a 990x.

If possible though, I would get a 2600K and wait to do an uber rig when Ivy Bridge launches w/12-cores.

If not then I would go SR-2 and dual-quad-core xeons for ~ the same money
