Of course if you went the sr-2 route it wouldn't and you'd need something beefier, or multiple supplies.
ya was working with the 10-15% mark.. just saying future proofing ur machine is awesome aslong as its not going to burn down ur home lol

1. The ICH10R controller doesn't support TRIM in RAID, either.
2. The OP would be an idiot not to get a dedicated RAID card. The ICH10R controller would be a huge bottleneck to 6 SSDs, as it would reach its bandwidth limit after ~3 SSDs.
3. The ICH10R controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10.
RAID 50 is still a much better option if you're actually doing work on the computer as well. C300s are nice drives, SF-1222, right?

Nope! C300s actually use a Marvell controller.
In random 4K read tests, they average 60K IOPS, while the Corsair Force (SF-1222) only gets 50K.

Edit finally found something more definitive as there were lots of confliciting info:

http://communities.intel.com/thread/...r+raid+trim%29

It seems that the ICH10R might only pass trim to drives that are set to raid in the bios, but are *not* in a raid array. I have no idea why intel would do this. I wonder if this is to do software raid and still pass trim, but software raid wouldn't require the drives to be marked as RAID anyway would they?

Yes it will be a huge bottle neck, but so will not having trim on a C300. The revodrive has much better garbage control than the C300. Maybe the revodrive would be fine, however check this link for info on c300 without trim:

Sure the ich10r supports raid 5 but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to use RAID 5 on it. The ich10r is effectively a SW controller, that's why when I read about it handling raid and trim I thought it made sense. It also means it'll be using your processor to generate the parity. A real raid card has a dedicated processor to generate the parity for you. Raid 0/1/10 doesn't use much processing power.

P.S. Leo you got a link to the Areca card? I'm going to need some of those once my boss let's me spend money again.

Conclusion: get the revodrive or an areca card.

If you do go with the areca card, RAID 5 would become an option. Pro's and Con's

RAID 5
Parity (increased data reliability)
Faster Read Speed
More disk space

Raid 10
Faster write speed

If the space and parity don't matter then it depends on your data usage as to which one you should favor.

Also if you can afford it look at the Dell U2711/U3011. You'd need to be loaded to afford 3 of those though. I agree about 3x monitors for gaming and IPS ftw.

RAID 50
Parity
Striping (like RAID 10)
Faster than RAID 5
More usable space than RAID 10
