No EQ is the way to go.

PCI-E sound card? ASUS Xonar DX, you won't be disappointed.

Xonar DG and DS which are two good choices if your on a budget. the DG has a decent hp amp while the DS has a op-amp dip-8 socket for switching op-amps.

Xonar DG has a headphone amp. 555 are low impedance so a regular sound card with no "amp" can output enough volume on it. Xonar DG is PCI, not PCIe.

Xonar DS does not have a headphone amp but it is still a good quality sound card for the price. Xonar DS is PCI, not PCIe.

The cheapest good PCIe sound card is the Xonar DX or X-Fi Titanium. There is a X-fi Xtreme Audio PCIe but that is an inferior Audigy rebrand.

Brilliant advice, one of my mates has some HD595's and a Xonar - I reckon it might be well worth investing in a Xonar DG for my own HD555's
