You should re-run the tests with dedicated Physx for each of the cards.

The HD 6870 works with Physx hack drivers.
BC2 doesn't have Physx.

The avg framerate between the cards has never varied more than 2 or 3. These are numbers that accurately reflect what you'll see in game...just as you play it.

I know of Hardocp and Techgage that bench w/ fraps runs only. Yet Hardocp shoots for 30 minimum and typically runs @ 2560...who does this? Techgage doesn't even look @ BC2 and drivers vary across cards...260 this, 256 that. And neither of them do it in MP. Again...who plays SP? Who runs around not shooting? Who takes the same path everytime? IMO, there's FAR too much emphasis on being precise and FAR too little offering up a plate of genuine bacon!

No...it tears up CPU's.

Nothing else will ever reflect what we see. Very few people see this, I'm glad to know there's other's that see the value here. Just look @ Contagion's Quad vs Dual thread. Most sites and reviewers would have you believe the game plays fine on a dual when that's clearly not the case.

I've played this game in SP on an E8400/260 and it wasn't terrible. Most of the campaign could be played tolerably. Throw it online w/ 32 people blasting rockets @ buildings and you're in for a star stuttery treat.

MP benefits DRASTICALLY from a quad. SP can be done wo/.

It's disabled, it still flickers. Nv does as well, but it's not nearly as noticeable. That's with all the optimizations off too. I've spent a considerable amount of time w/ these cards and Nvidia simply offers better image quality AND performance in the popular mid range budget arena. The 6950 1GB may be a crazy awesome deal, but I'd rather get less performance if it means my textures aren't shifting in front of me.

Try a single map w/ a full server a few times. I bet you'll see very very close min/avg framerates.

I guess HBAO is very demanding.
I LOVE HBAO, it's very subtle, yes, but it adds a tremendous amount of depth for those that notice it. Unfortunately it's not possible to stay above 60FPS on a GTX 460 w/ those settings. Now a 470 oced to 850Mhz was able to run HBAO wo/ issue. 6870's lucky to have 4x MSAA. I really out to bump it down to 2x MSAA. The card really struggles on some maps, especially snow levels.

As for your numbers, that's exactly where I'd expect to see an i7/570 @ 1080P w/ 4X MSAA and HBAO. In fact, I bet w/ some heavy clocking you could pull off 8X comfortably.

I was experimenting last night with Transparency SSAA in the nvidia control panel and such. To be honest, maybe it was because I kept going back and forth but It was hard to notice a difference in image quality between some of the settings. With some of the higher settings like 8xmsaa and with TSSAA cranked up it would really struggle in high vegetation.

I won't settle for any less than 60fps constant so I think I settled with 4xmsaa 16af and Transparency set to either multisampling or x2 SS I can't remember.

Actually, I may have gone with 2xmsaa. I was kind of shocked in some high vegetation areas how much my fps would drop. I was sure with my new 570 I would be able to run everything maxed but this game is turning out to be quite needy.

BC2 has lots o holes.

Flip on Gamma AA if you don't already, it'll thin some of the telephone lines and you'll notice less line breakage in movement.

This is probably why I like the snow levels. I'm so blinded by all the white, that's all I notice. And any card can do flat white!

By "Gamma AA" do you mean "Gamma Correction" in the nvidia control panel?

That sounds right. IIRC, it's near the top of the 3D settings...maybe the second line?

10.12 is trash, waiting for 11.1 before listening to any benchies.

Are you running the 10.12 CAP ? Both 10.12 drivers and 10.12 CAP destroyed my fps on BC2 (yes it a different card but its worth testing). I'm using 10.10e and its smooth as silk.
