i wonder if the card dieing has anything to do with really obvious baking burns (the guy who sold it to me swore up and down it was never baked thats a pile of Bull) it has very obvious burns on it.

Well baking could have warped the board a little so it could be the cause of those shorts. Burn marks usually mean baking altho it could be from something else that got stuck on it like smoke residue (if he was smoking next to the computer)

yeah i know i should have known better but i was so desperate for an NVIDIA Card (for doom 3) and i didn't see the GTX 280 for 20 bucks less until i paid for the GX2, man if only time machines existed

The GX2 is slightly more powerful than a GTX 280 when both are at stock. Overclocked as it was, you have a monster of a card. Probably surpassing a GTX 285 by that point.
