definately. I was a bit sad when i saw there was no k model i3 in the SB lineup but it can be understood as the k models are mainly aimed at enthusiasts and who out of them would use an i3? They wouldn't be all that popular

Are you sure? When I was testing out my parents' i3 540, I noticed a significant difference in framerates. Average and Maximum were about the same but minimum was affected the most.

However, it is still a capable CPU. Overclocks like a beast, I was able to do 4.6GHz (1.4v) stable.
