Of course the 1600 will be faster and more expensive. I just ordered 16gb of the 1600 for 109 each at the egg

From what I've noticed in a bit of testing, timings don't make as much difference for sandybridge compared to previous Core i7 generations.(Note this isn't a defined fact, but just from some testing I've done.) So go for higher clocked.
