[Xbit] Intel expecting alot from 22nm Fab Process - Page 2

AMD is looking smaller and smaller. They have a LONG way to catch up. Especially now that Intel is pricing so competitively... that was the only thing AMD really had going for them.

That's what they said 54nm ago.

They're not even pacing themselves anymore; it's more than theft...this is nanometercide.

This is almost a troll-worthy response given how amazing SB OCs!

I laughed so hard, wt.f is that?

Its not AMD's fault! AMD outsources their fabs while Intel does it inhouse. (Well their main processors are done in-house, Atoms are outsourced to TSMC)

I have to do my best to hold off on a CPU upgrade trough 2011.... or at least until Q2 I don't know if I can make it
Atom @ 45nm only consumes 2.5w... No telling how low the power consumption will be at 22nm

Sub-1w perhaps, perfect for handhelds!

Yep, even though my only experience with AMD CPUs was a laptop, which was horribly slow to Intels same level, I hope AMD doesn't get left behind. Actually I hope AMD has something even better then Intel. If Intel destroys AMD then they can overprice there CPUs as much as they want..

Actually it is AMDs fault, they are the ones that dropped their fabs so they could stay afloat.

SANDBRIDGE is a waste of money with ivy coming out so soon, so be perfectly frank. We will see what platforms it comes to, but beyond being 1155 based- SB doesn't look futureproof at all (at least in comparison to previous generations such as 1366 which still keeps up with new offerings)
