HELP new build no drive detected

Thread Starter 
so I have a Gigabyte p67a-ud4 and the board is not recognizing my hard drive, it is a western digital 500 gb sataII , its all built ready to install win 7 64 bit, is there a bios setting im missing, I did set it to ahci mode because I have no IDE drives, I tried a different cable and different sata ports as well

Make sure that in the boot configuration, you have the drive listed as a hard drive. Make the hard drive the first boot priority also.

Drives aren't going to show up in your POST screen if AHCI is enabled.
You should see the drive on the next screen after POST

oh , I thought I had to have cd rom set as first boot device until the os was installed

As long as the hard drive is recognised as one in the BIOS then it'll be fine. You can set the hard drive to first boot priority, disable the CD drive in the priority then tap F8 when starting your PC. Simply choose to boot from the CD drive when prompted.
