I know it's a whole new game. I can't wait!

Until then modded Sturmovik will tide me over.

I'm happy to report that not only is my stick working as good as the day I unboxed it, it's actually better as Logitech has released several firmware updates for it. There was a major bug with the stick, dubbed the reversal bug, when any axis reversed direction of travel the axis input would actually spike maybe 4-6% in the initial direction of movement, needless to say this had an impact on precision flying. They have since released a firmware update that fixed this bug in the X and Y axis and now the G940 is one of the most precise sticks on the market! The bug still remains in the trims and throttle axis, but Logitech says they will be working on them as well, and it's not so bad in the mean time now that the main stick is fixed.
Although it seems it is better the entry-mid level joysticks form logitech, Im not quite convinced.I have to say that the stick looks stylish and the rudder pedals look a lot sturdier than the CH and Saitek ones.So Im still leaning towards the setup on my sig.

I can understand the hesitation, Logitech has a really terrible reputation for joysticks, Logicrap we call it, lol. If CH offered anything with half the features I might go for that but CH has put out a new joystick design in over a damn decade. Split throttle, some trim knobs, an analog mini-stick or two, is pretty much a requirement for my joystick money these days.

Thats why Im gonna build a HOTAS setup with the Saitek throttle quadrant and rudder pedals. The CH Combatstick has more than enough buttons , hatswitches and trim wheels. The throttle quadrant has 3 levers which can be arranged in various ways(including split throttle for dual engine planes) and more buttons. That g940 seems like the most complete and good looking all in one package setup.I still got a month and half to make my choice, lets see what happens.

Actually, the CH sticks do not have any trim wheels, the two wheels are physical trim wheels, they physically move the X Y potentiometers, they are not programmable axis, and using them for trim purposes is a bad idea.

An actual trim wheel is an axis, just like X,Y for the joystick and the throttle etc, it will show up in windows as an axis and will let you assign it in the game to function, be it trim, or flaps or prop pitch. The wheels on the base of the CH sticks are not axis, they move the sensors in the stick so that the center position of the stick is no longer in the center. You are not able to assign these wheels to anything, and if you try to use them to trim the plane then your center position will be off and you will end up recalibrating.

Whoah didnt know about that.Nonetheless I could assign one or two of the levers of the throttle quadrant for trim purposes. If thats the case I think Im better off with the CH throttle quadrant which has 6 levers.

Yeah, that's what most CH users do, or they get that guy to do the Franken Potato mod. Me, I need knobs close at hand for trim etc. in the middle of combat, if I have to reach for a lever it kinds defeats the purpose of the HOTAS concept, lol. That and I'm hooked on force feedback.
