Zotac GTX 470 Fermi

Thread Starter
Okay guys, I have a Zotac GTX 470 Fermi, I've been maxing out all games, and get quite "sluggish" results. It's uncomfortable to play most games maxed out. I get around 20-40 FPS in most games. Such as:

Crysis Warhead: 23-45 fps, at 1920x1200, mainly average at about 25 fps. Sometimes lower.
GTA IV: 26 -29 fps, at the same resolution, average at 26 fps.
Mount & Blade Warband: 17-60 fps, usually get around 26 fps with everything on screen.
COD Black Ops: 29-60 FPS, usually get around the 35-45's, same resolution.

I'm stumped, my system is as follows:

AMD 955 BE 3.2ghz x 4 OC'ed to 3.8ghz (with H50 water cooler)
2x2Gb G-Skill Ripjaw 1600mhz RAM running at 1333mhz (I'm scared to put it up to 1600mhz because last time I had to RMA it :/) and CL 8-8-8-24 instead of CL7.
ASUS M488TDM-EVO USB 3.0 Hybrid Crossfire
Graphics card:

GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 448 Processor Cores 1280MB DDR5
Core Clock
607MHz
Shader Clock
1215MHz
Memory Clock
3348MHz
Memory Interface
320-bit
Max Resolution
2560 x 1600

500GB WD Caviar Black 32mb cache
650 watt XXX Edition Power Supply
NZXT Gamma Case with 4 Casecom blue neon fans.
Lite-On DVD (not that it matters)

Anyway yeah, idle temps are 37-40 degree's, and full load around 65-75 degree's. I'm stuck on whether I should sell it and go all out and get an HD 5970, or get a 6970, or just wait for a while until the new cards start coming in?

I'm not impressed with the GTX 470 at all, I would not recommend it for an enthusiast gamer. I want to play with everything maxed out, and it niggles away at me if it's not maxed out lol. I go, oh cmon computer, just 10 more FPS and we'd be flying. Where can I get 10 FPS from? Seriously... I've overclocked the GTX 470 to 15% more than it should be, and there was no performance difference, my driver has been re-installed several times, tried everything, all the drivers perform exactly the same...

Can someone please help me? I just want to get rid of this thing before I get angry and break it

No, but seriously, anyone any ideas? I've never had much luck with computers always had **** frame rates, can someone make me happy for once? I just want to run the games above on Max without having to worry about my FPS dropping...

Thank you all in advance.

I have the same card, it runs great. From what I recall Warhead = 45-60 fps (enthusiast 1920*1080 no AA) Black Ops = 75+ fps (all max 1920*1080) BC2=70-150 (all max, no HBAO, AA and AF at 2x 1920*1080). Try running vantage and post what you get, we can compare.

EDIT: I'm running it in a 8x slot, so the slot lanes don't seem to make that much of a difference.
