I know what ur saying but its just an exception to a rule that extends through our entire market. Like luxury items cost more than bargain items. Same concept. Blow a tranny in ur car. In the shop its costs like 3 grand to fix, but the parts are like $700. Its how service companies make money. Period. Game Over.

If he wants a pre-built he is going to get a pre-built. I hope your realize that your "rightness" isn't going to change his decision at all. Yes, those companies are making money, and yes I realize that it's not going to be the cheapest all the time.

I came in here, told him which one I would choose, and was going to leave. But no, everyone in here is pressing "build it yourself" on him, which he clearly stated he isn't going to do. Stop trying to convince him, because (after reading his other posts) he isn't going to change his mind.

World of warcraft only uses 3 cores if i'm not mistaking and seeing as that would be OP's most cpu demanding task then gettting the i5 2500k would be a little overkill
If OP played some games that actually used more than 3 cores then i5 would be the way the way to go
an i3 is more than capable of running wow at stock speeds
at 4.2 Ghz it will be more than enough

iBuyPower? Isn't that a US company? Nah there overclocks are not stable. Just because you have an awesome accent doesn't mean every company in the UK will be awesome like your accent.

Do cops not try to negotiate with "jumpers"? Its the same concept though because he is LIKELY committing budget suicide. Remember he is trying to make this a cheap endeavor in general. Why waste money then?

Whoa grizzly, calm down!

You can have your own point of view that's fine, also people can disagree with you and you can disagree with others but doing it in a calm manner will get people to take note of what you are saying more that telling them they are "WRONG!" whislt making wildly false claims you could never have a hope of backing up.

Anyway I will say again, the whole system is not pre build, only the mobo, cpu, ram and cooler, I could assemble those myself no problem and will be installing the mobo into the case, the g card, hdd and pus then installing the OS all myself, yes it is as simple as lego but still I can see why people would pay for others to do the whole thing for them.

But the overclocking is the bit I do not want to do with new equipment, also there is no guarantee an off the shelf cpu will go to even 3.8 GHz, whereas the guys doing my overclock cherry pick a cpu then try the overclock, if it won't reach a stable 4.2 at an ok voltage they get another cpu and start again.

Agreed with the first part, but I read nowhere in the OP about him trying to "save money". He just wants to know which chip to get for him, specifically:

what I really want to know is what is the difference between the two chips *for me*?
Either way, good luck OP!

comparing what you're doing to a cop trying to talk a jumper out of jumping is like the cop getting in his face screaming at him, telling him about how much of a loser he is, and that he should jump because he's a waste of life.

And what is your problem? I am buying from aria, I did not say all uk company's were awesome, there are a LOT of shoddy ones, but the community knows who they are and with minimal research you know who to avoid.

By the way ripping into someone for their nationality does a lot for your nation you know?

I could equally judge you and call you a "dumb American" but I try not to blindly believe in stereotypes, as that is all they are and all what they serve.

Don't, like, ALL SB chips go to ATLEAST 4GHZ? In stores like Microcenter and Frys, on AMD chips(the chip is shown on the side of the box) you can the exact week it was made. Simply pick one from a hot month(when they run the factory hot, usually the chips can OC higher) and bam you have a good processor that clocks well.

How much are you paying for the overclock?
