Sound From GTX570 via HDMI

Hey all,

I might be picking up a monitor that has speakers built into it (i know, i know, they are gonna sound like crap) but the only sound I have right now is from my JVC RX900 cans and its kinda annoying to try to show someone something with only headphones...

so, right now my gtx 570 is connected to my monitor via dvi cable. But if i use HDMI from my GTX570, do I need to install the Nvidia HD sound drivers? Or will it work just from plugging the HDMI cable into the graphics card?

I have a sound card installed in my rig also, which is what my headphones are plugged into..will this cause a conflict or issue?

I just got a ASUS 22" monitor for a build, and the sound quality was not half bad.

During that build, i think the sound worked right from the start with out any drivers, but im sure for optimal sound, drivers would be a plus.

I only have onbound sound, but I do not have any conflicts between my nvidia sound drivers and my onboard sound. I have not tried it without them, so I don't know if it would work without them

I'm fairly sure you'll have to install the nV HD sound drivers. I don't think you'll have a 'conflict' (I have those installed, but still use my soundcard) but I think you'll have to toggle between output devices in the audio control panel when you want to switch.
