Best way to apply X23-7783D TIM

Thread Starter
Hey,

The best way that I've found so far with this TIM is to put a line in the middle then spread it around slowly with my finger, essentially covering the cpu ihs top with a spread thin layer.

Yesterday I took of my NH-D14 for cleaning I tried the same method with Prolimatech TIM; sadly I got worse temps. With Prolimatech TIM since it has higher viscosity I get best temps with rice dot in middle or 5 dot pattern (1 mid, 4 as edges of square).

Anyone else got good ways of applying Shin Etsu? Dot in center does not work well with it since its so thick and my cpu is lapped so I need to put the least amount possible.

Hi.

Check this link: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...d=170&Itemid=1

I personally cover the CPU with the TIM and install the cooler or block.

I did a combination of both the spread and dot method since it seems very thick. I also warmed it up in hot water before. It helped make it spread a little.
