Which SSD Should i get?

Thread Starter
I have been looking at SSD's for a while now but i'm not sure what would be worth going for. I'm happy to spend about £100. And i don't think i want SATA 3 because it will be reallllllly expensive so hopefully SATA 2 SSD's will be cheaper.

Which SSD would you guys go for from this list:

LINK

The one that i am the most interested in is the

Kingston 64GB SSDNow V100 2.5" SATA-II Only because it goes on offer for an amazing £64.

Although it doesn't have the sand-force controller which is what i should be looking for shouldn't i?

Intel should be coming out with their G3 SSD drives next month.
While they won’t be the fastest they are supposedly going to double capacity at the same price.

This should drop all other drive prices so you might want to hold out just a bit.

Cool, sounds good. Do you know how much they will be?

Do you mean the Intel X25-M G3 SSD? What does 25nm mean?

In short, go for whichever drive has an approximate Read/Write spec of 285/275, but also an IOPS spec of 50,000.

So, you can basically choose the best price from any of these:

(this is intentionally in alphabetical order)
  • A-DATA S599
  • Corsair Force
  • G-SKILL Phoenix Pro
  • Mushkin Callisto Deluxe
  • OCZ Vertex 2

The reason why I put "Pro" and "Deluxe" in bold is because there's a plain Phoenix, and there's a plain Callisto. But the plain ones don't have the 50,000 IOPS spec. It's like the difference between the Vertex 2 and the Agility 2.

I think that everything else is just not worth considering, especially when looking for the best bang for your buck.

If I have the option to get an Agility 2 for 115 before rebate and 90 AR is that worth it?

The ADATA S599 is 115
Corsair Force is 130
G.Skill Phoenix Pro is 132
Mushkin Callisto Deluxe is 130
OCZ Vertex 2 is 130

Assuming that I never get those 25$ back from OCZ for the Agility 2 which of those would be worth the money?

Wait a sec. I got confused; I thought you were the OP.

Probably the S599.
