Though I think I'd prefer my G9 seeing it has something similar but a bit more extensive. You can set certain DPI levels and adjust to each by two buttons right above the left mouse button.

I have mine set up to 1000/800, 2000/2000 and 3200/3200. I use the latter when I'm not gaming, or when I'm in a vehicle. I use the middle wielding normal guns/snipers. And when I'm having trouble aiming at superlong range I use the 1000/800. Though I hardly use the 1000/800.
I doubt I would really even use the precision aim button in games. I just like the fact that I can hold a button and drop my DPI while sniping. I can imagine that I would us it in many other applications other than gaming though.

Then I would even more suggest the G9 honestly. Because of the multiple possibilities to switch the DPI to.

The rat7 has the same. You can switch DPIs by a button located behind the scroll wheel I believe. You can cycle through four DPIs that you can set using the software. You can also switch between three profiles or 'Cyber Modes' as they call it. The two mice are very similar in functionality the only big difference seems to be in the shape and appearance.

Ah, thought it only had a switch to go from fast to slow rather than several speeds like the G9.

Then they're pretty much the same indeed

Nah, they are both pretty sweet but I ended up going with the g9x. I have heard nothing but good things about this mouse from everyone one who has or has had it. I have read many people have had trouble with the twin laser that comes with the Rat7. Between that and the fact that it looks sick, I chose not to get it (yeah, i am one of those who care a little about looks).

Wise choice
I had an mX518 and loved it, I only moved to the G5 because I needed another mouse for my grandsons rig, so I bought my self the G5, did not like the size of the G9 other than that they are both good mice (apposed to a bad rat)

Nah, I don't care about my PC games skills enough to practice to get better. If I get good at them, thats cool and all. I suck pretty bad at online PC fps games, I tried playing BFBC2 online and got smoked so bad. I have been an online console gamer since the release of Socom 2, thats where all of my shooting game skills are. PC games like Diablo 2, Titan Quest, Red Alert 2 are what I have spent most of my time playing in the past. I just think it is a cool feature to have on a mouse but either way I will have to deal without it because it seems that the g9x has a much better reputation than the Rat7.

Well there is another choice if you want the easy aim feature. The Roccat Kone[+] has it as well. Much more expensive though.

I thought the precision button just dropped down the DPI so it you could be a tad more accurate and not as snappy.

I have a DPI adjuster behind my Gigabyte Ghost M800X. I normally just stay on 6000DPI but in some games the scopes are really sensitive so I can drop it down to half speed and use that.

Shame that the RAT7 isn't good for gaming, I was thinking of picking one up.
