ALL games opening in windowed mode (black bars)

Hi all,

So for the past year or so i have been trying all different games on my pc, reinstalled windows, drivers etc countless number of times and never has this happenend, the other day i opened F1 2010 and it opened in full screen but small resolution in the middle of the screen (with like 3" black bars all round it) so i set the game to the max res (1920x1200) and it was sorted, but i don't like running F1 2010 at max res with all high settings, so i have it on 1680x1050, it always use to open at that res in FULL screen (no black bars) so i just ignored it and played on at 1920x1200, then i open a few more games only to find its doing the exact same thing with every single game!!!!! its infuriating, and the only thing i can think of that i changed before this all started happening was installin ESET, Pro EVO 2011, and also forced MW2 into windowed mode so I could play that at 1280x1024 and watch a youtube vid at the same time (kinda lol) so now i cant play any games at lower res than 1920x1200 or i get huge nasty black bars ... anyone had this prob before??? need help coz i dont want to re-install windows because of my F1 2010 save (and few others) that i tried to put back on my PC once it re-installed windows before and it just wouldnt work and lost all my data ....

Already tried re-installing GFX drivers ... i also installed Windows 7 SP1 but that has nothing whatsoever to do with it

^^ woh! dint realise how much of an essay that was!

nooo, thats not my problem, it already starts in fullscreen mode, but with black bars, the Alt + Enter thing only works when the game is either in windowed mode or full screen ...

really mean no offence, but I can tell that you don't understand my problem mate.

thats exactly right, and its never happened before and im doing any forcing using the nvidia driver sor anything like that because I know it shouldn't be like that, I want back to the way it was normally ...

another thing to add the the list of "things that I done different than usual that COULD have caused it" i spose some game i installed had a driver called "tages SA" and when i rebooted a few times after it came up with "this driver is not compatible bla bla bla" not saying that I know thats anything to do with it but it is a change ...

EDIT: i did uninstall tages SA, (if you dont know what it is, do a quick google, its what I did)

Try Nvidia scaling?

Click use Nvidia scaling and press apply and see what happens then.

Make sure you connect using a digital connector, e.g. DVI
