Anyone know of a good motherboard for a P4

Thread Starter
I have an old 2.0ghz Pentium 4 sitting around, one that used to be in a Dell Dimension 8200, and I figured I'd see if I could put it to good use. I need a mATX motherboard for my P4 (which I believe is a Northwood), and I'd like it to be compatible with a 20 pin PSU connector. Does anyone know of any good candidates for this?

i have a P4P800S that still works in my Northwood, and i do like it very much, was a great board back in the day. At least at my eyes
So i would say one like this one
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...specifications

But i think that now it depends on what board you can manage to get nowadays, as there aren't many being produced, if any. One of the last produced boards for 478 P4s was Asrock P4i65GV i believe. maybe you can find one of these.

One like this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157216

My only concern with that one was that people had said it was very picky about which P4s worked with it. If this one will work with my Northwood P4, then I'll certainly consider it.

I turned my 3.06GHz P4 w/ HT into a keychain the other day. I pulled off the heatsink and the chip came out with it It bent 10 or so pins. It was my first chip and I didn't want to part so I always have it with me now haha.

That motherboard is pretty good, it's got a PCI-e X16 slot so you can use modern(ish) graphics cards. There's also this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138174. It's also got the PCI-e X16 slot.

would you recommend the Biostar board over the Asrock one?

I have two P4 Northwood-era systems running at home and let me tell you, any money you spend on parts for them is money down the drain...

The only reason I'm tempted to do this build is because I have tons of parts cluttering my room, and I want to have a "meh" computer for my little brother to learn on. (He's 7)

Another question: would either of these boards work for northwood and willamette? I'm unsure if mine is one or the other
