Hows my OC 955? - Page 2

Nice OC!

FYI, going from high-end air to a rasa 750/rx360 kit got me another ~200mhz stable, but dropped temps under load very substantially. Others with quad BE's have had similar results.

Stonedzen ,I havent gotten to run many other tests I have been really busy (my house caught on fire last month and I have a 3 month old son)

Water cooling wise I'm not sure what I want to go with it all costs to much LMAO. Have been looking at the H70 or the rasa kit.

Casey Ryback, Thanks ill push it when I can control temps a little better but for air cooling I think I met my match.

LocoJason, I saw that kit and I am considering it just not sure where I'm going to put it lol.

I should say I haven't looked at the 260 but the 240. Not sure on who all sells them haven't done a lot of searching. Wish someone had a video review on them all I have seen is an unboxing.

I assume you meant "I haven't looked at the 360 but the 240".

Here is a link to the rs240 for $130. Very good reviews, way better than the H70 and only $30 more, way worth it in my opinion. That is the one I'm ordering, it is affordable and you can always upgrade to a better radiator later.

You are so right. Sort of loopy today.. Baby doesn’t feel good and has been crying all day it seems.

I like the 360 but it's another like 50 bucks I'm not really wanting to spend. I saw the 240 and thought it was pretty wicked I might decide to make a box for the rad and maybe something I can build my external HD into (wow now you got me thinking.). But I got to wait for my W2's to come in and see how much I'll get on my taxes first. Humm now you really have me thinking.

An AC rad from a car would be sweet and I could pull some plastic grommets off a car to run tubing into the case. (I'm so cheap haha. )

A huge car rad would probably need a bigger pump to push the water that far and would be tricky to set up with such a small reservoir. I bet you could rig something pretty cool though (yes, pun intended wink.gif)

If you plan to save for a rs360, you might as well save $20 extra and get the rx240, which has a thicker radiator than the rs series rads and even cools better than the rs360 despite the shorter rad. But honestly, if you are planning only CPU WCing, everything I have learned says a rs240 is plenty for replacing a tower hsf and dropping at least 10c under load. Someone out there correct me if I'm wrong.

lol not a car rad an AC rad which is in a car but much smaller and they cool Freon so idk if it would work or not sure I could find out.

Right now I would only do the CPU but I'm sure I could make upgrades in the future also if I have it set up externally ill have to buy a cheap PSU humm now I'm thinking.

But it all depends on what tax return yields I'm think I'll get at least 2,000 back.

More surface area is better for rads so you got to do the measurements longer or thicker can be confusing unless you know how to figure surface area which aint that hard.

I need to do some more research on this cooler. I wonder if there is some water cooling for my mobo and VGA that I can add later when I can.

Considering you have an 890fx system board and 6850, yes, you definitely can add a gpu block and northbridge block later on, but those are expensive and you would need a better radiator than the RS360 or RX240 to cool that many components.

The radiator isn't that big of an expense I really like the fact that I can get a entire setup to start off with for the price of the 240 if I decide to go with a bigger radiator later that is surely something I can manage to do.

Are there any sites you can suggest for water cooling parts? Newegg doesn’t really have much of what I am looking for. I want to do some research before I decide to invest the money.
