Worth playing through Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind right now?

Thread Starter
I've got both TESIII and TESIV on Steam which I got on a deal a long time ago, but never got to play them. Should I even bother with TESIII?

To this day I much prefer Morrowind to Oblivion, and with mods you can make it look pretty damn good. I put the Morrowind 2011 Graphical Project mod collection on, just days before it got taken down for bull**** reasons, but it makes the game look 10x+ better than it used to.

OK, whatever you do, PLAY MORROWIND FIRST. This is absolutely crucial. If you play Oblivion first, you will probably become accustomed to its simplified and more intuitive combat, and its shinier graphics.

If you play Morrowind first, you will be sucked into its ridiculously deep and complex world, and the slower pace (compared to Oblivion), will only enhance it.

Do it.

Play it.

Now.

Those two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Morrowind is greatly GREATLY better than oblivion could ever hope to be. Sadly, I don't see the new one getting any better.

^Agreed with above, far superior story, design, etc. Looking forward to TES V, to see if it turns out like III. Tbh IV is an expansion pack compared to III.

Agreed, but they changed to broaden their audience, thus killing half the HC gamers. All said and done, it was alright, but I only played cuz Morgan Webb told me to. Nuff said.

Yes you absolutely should play Morrowind. With the available graphics extender and texture packs, the visuals still hold up today and the gameplay experience is timeless. I'm about 40 hours into another playthrough, just gearing up for the Skyrim release! biggrin.gif

Here's a pretty decent list of mods: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/757329-Lets-Play-Morrowind-Includes-list-of-must-have-mods
I highly recommend sticking only to graphical mods since the vanilla game offers a ridiculous amount of content. Just make sure to get the graphics extender and try to get some of the texture packs, and weapon texture packs to give the visuals an update.
