Anyone have a 2600k and h70?

Wondering what your stock-clock with HT on temperatures are.

Does 27-29 celcius (back and forth) sound like a proper idle temperature?

(Reason I ask is when I went to install the h70, I smudged the thermal paste against the CPU a couple times before getting the block on securely).

Idle temperatures really don't matter much. The CPU's diodes get more accurate the closer they get to the TjMax.

But, those temps are fine

as lethal said, it's not idle temps you should worry about it's the load temps that really matter.

Well, my peak temps with Prime95 on its most nasty possible stress test (while doing internet surfing) were 58/59/62/58 on my four cores.

That's stock with HT turned on and Turbo on, but no overclock.

Is that decent? Will it allow for me to hit some better clocks? Just want to make sure I shouldn't be taking the cooler off and reapplying paste.

Full load folding @ 4.6GHz it tops out at 62 degress, side panel on the 800D, and that's with push/pull on the 120

Is folding more or less intense than Prime95? Sounds like you get better temps O_O;

Those temps are fine. Overclocking will raise them though.

My Super Mega was better performing...but I couldn't fit the darn push fan on with the Dominator GT heatsinks. So went to the H70.
Folding is quite intensive if you are utilizing all the cores, which I do.

If you're running Bigadv's, it can get quite stressful.
