Downgrading For The Better

Thread Starter
Recently, I have not been playing games all that much, I have mainly been watching moving and looking and computer articles online on my school issued Dell Latitude E6410 (Awesome) and play minecraft on it as well ... However, I do use my trusty, elegant desktop for high FPS Valve game play and x264 Video Encoding. So essentially I do a lot of light encoding and high FPS low intensive gaming. I just want some more money in my pocket, because as much as I want to be a "hardcore gamer", I just can't drag myself off the TF2, CS:S, HL2M and L4D2 , well maybe the only exception is minecraft which I play on my laptop. In general the following parts are the ones that I want to buy:
  • I have heard that i3's have been quite popular and am thinking of getting one since they OC real nicely... if so which one should I get 1155/1156?
  • well oc'ing mobo
  • haha, I also need a 1156/1155 Corsair H50 mounting system (I threw out all bar the AM3)

This means that I will be selling the following, which should give me a large some of money:
  • amd phenom ii x4 965 black edition
  • asus m4a79xtd evo
  • colorful geforce gts 450
  • msi geforce 7600gs
  • cooler master gx 750w

According to a local chinese version of ebay called taobao.com, the above items should sell for approximately $550!!!!! This should be ~$300 more than enough to buy an extreme OC'ing Dual Core CPU+Mobo Combo

So what CPU + Mobo would you guys recommend?

i think the general feelings that i've seen about the core i3's is that the new 1155's are supposed to be better but more expensive. honestly you dont have to get the fastest or the most expensive one if all you're gonna play is tf2 and stuff.

EDIT: also, either sell your 5850 or gts 450. seriously you dont need a physX card at your level of gaming.

The new i3 can't be overclocked.
You could take a i5 2500K 1155.

Hell, your current config is more than enough.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't understand your need correctly.

I don't think you would make a lot of profit from what you will lose.
