mechanical keyboards are great, and don't bother with dome "gaming" keyboards, they're all the same

For me it is. My mechanical keyboard feels much better when both typing and gaming, and I don't need things like LED backlit keys (I touchtype), LCD screen (never used it really back with my old G15) and macro keys. The only issue I have with my Das is that it lacks media keys, but that's easily solvable with key shortcut settings in Winamp or with Sharpkeys.

(I.E. finger sliding across keys to get multiple key presses and faster and easier button press downs on keys.)

Depends on the switch. For gaming, MX blues might be a bother for SOME RARE INDIVIDUALS, but MX blacks and MX browns beat a rubber dome in gaming any day. Just feels 100x better.

This. This is why I came to this thread. William... If you are getting a new keyboard, DON'T even THINK about getting one of them "gaming" rubber domes. Those are just 10 dollar rubber domes with backlighting. If you want a keyboard but you don't want to pay for a mechanical, get a 10 dollar DELL..

The rubber dome gaming keyboards are TOYS. Fancy EXPENSIVE cheap feeling crap toys. They aren't any better than 10 dollar dell keyboards. They just have a backlight. If you are spending that much money, get a mechanical

It's worth it if you're considering spending money on a gaming keyboard, as the investment to go mechanical isn't very large then.

I would say worth it.
After trying the discontinued ABS-M1, I would not go back to rubber dome anymore.

mechs in FPS isn't to much of a difference. For just general typing however, it's fantastic

Essentially this. Not much of a change in FPS games. Typing is great fun though.

Well keyboards in general don't make a big difference in FPS gaming.

So called "gaming keyboards" are pretty much useless anyway.

Get a mechanical, you won't regret it.

Given your post title I'd invest in some Mavis Beacon first.

mechanical s are nice, but they cost typically alot compared to a oem dell keyboard i've had for about 7 years, which costed only 15$ total, i've had a mx 5500 keyboard, and g15, a black widow, a ducky, and xarmours for my little bro

no difference in GAMING, only TYPING

yes a mechanical may "FEEL" different or fantastic, but it won't make your schlong bigger
and it certainly doesn't make you god of gaming

if you want to buy into the hype than by all means spend your money how you wish
but if your trying to find the right spot to improve on your games , a better mouse or better comp/ internet connection would be better,

keyboard is one of the last things i would ever upgrade if trying to improve gaming experience
