Could a KVM increase latency to keyboard?

Well I've been meaning to get a KVM for awhile, but would a KVM increase latency times between input devices connected through USB, like say A keyboard?

The KVM would be hooked up on my gaming PC, so I don't want "laggy" keys if you know what I mean.

Love to hear from any OCN'ers that are currently gaming+ using a kvm and what they have to say biggrin.gif

Every KVM has the *potential* for it, think about it - it's an extra device that has to pass on the signal.

*Most* KVMs won't have any/any noticeable affect on input latency. If you get one that's of decent quality, you shouldn't have to worry.

Very true, I figured that there would be some increased delay.

Any recommendations?

I personally use this one and absolutely LOVE it. Downside is to KVM's if you have a higher powered keyboard like my razer lycosa (logitech equivalent) , most USB powered KVM's won't have the power to keep your keyboard on. so I run my keyboard into a powered usb hub then the hub plugs into my kvm so it gets sufficient power. Ya I had to buy a hub for it which was a few bucks but the price evens out if I would have bought a kvm that had an external power supply (they cost more...and get bulkier). I personally like having the usb hub cause you can hide that easier than a bulkier KVM.

I play a plethora of games, it's all I really do on this system and there isn't a single thing of delay to worry about.
