Where and when did they say this? I purchased my board through Microcenter.

Mybe i will deal with biostar. Is biostar trying to make a name for itself? Maybe not to long from now Biostar will take the place it deserves and regarded as highly as ASUS and Gygabyte.

5 minutes into small fft's max temps are 64/75/76/73

Left voltage on 1.42 in bios, same as when at 4.8 in my post above. 1.488v and 1.5v vcore showing 95-100w. Thinking I might be able to hit 5ghz without HT at the same temps I hit 4.8 with HT.(edit - nm tried that, crash on small fft's after 5 minutes with 1.43 volts)

Did a few 3dmark vantage runs stock score is 25k(3.4ghz w.HT/732mhz) new score is 30k(4.8ghz w.HT/888mhz), and at 4.9ghz w.out HT/888mhz also 30k.

I'm dying for a new BIOS =(
Hoping it will fix turbo issues and allow me to use 2t command rate....

No signs of degrading on my chip running 1.45v 24/7 for the past week and a half, 1.43v the past month and a half before that. There chips are not as weak as some people portray them. What was gulftown's max recommended temp, 1.4v?

+1

Can you expand on the turbo issues Scorpion ? I'm going to send Biostar an email today about the BIOS issues, maybe if we all did that someone might hear something back. :-)

The only BIOS I've been able to pass 1hr blend is 126, but I'm forced to used 1T and run 9-10-9-27 (at least it's at 1866).

They need to fix three big things in 126 and I'll be a happy camper:

Command Rate bug
Allow lower BCLK
Allow lower CPU PLL
(all the way down to 1.5)

Really wish I could lower the cpu pll. When the new boards are released I'm thinking of switching to the Asus Maximus IV. Been reading good things though it sounds like they might report vcore lower than actual.

Some thoughts of what I have learned messing with my system for last 6 weeks.

Im not positive, but using a fixed voltage with LLC disabled SEEMED to make my graphics drivers restart and go into idle mode every couple of hours, especially during gaming.
Its been a maddening bug, I tried to eliminate all the different sources of things that could of caused it

-power supply
-drivers
-reinstall windows
-changes pll voltage
-change internal pll voltage override
-change multi (44-47)
-change vccio voltage (which supposedly controls pci-e generator)

, and I keep coming back to fixed voltage and LLC disabled. Ill know for sure in a week if I havent had a single driver restart

It weird, screen goes black for sec, resolution restarts, and driver restarts and stays at idle clocks, but games never crash. I guess it could just be card, but I havent had crash in 3 days, and never had this problem before new motherboard, and I ran this card is 4 different motherboards AND chipsets, no problems. (crosses fingers)

I needed fix voltage 1.35 to get 4.6 stable

Lowering pll voltage makes cpu request less vcore under high load by maybe 1 notch, and it makes computer SEEM more stable

Example,
with 1.3 volts 4.5 is stable prime 95 for 4 hours but then error
with 1.3 volts and pll 1.7 prime is stable for 8 hours then error
with 1.31 volts and pll 1.8 prime is stable
with 1.31 volts and pll 1.7 prime is stable

I know my old q6600 ran pll at 1.55 default clock. I dont see how these new processors would function at anything less than 1.55 but who knows?

Some of the extreme overclocks from q6600 swore than raising pll to 1.8 helped keep stablity, but lots of people also said this was sure to burn out your cpu. Personally Im just gonna keep my pll at default unless I have to change.

Also by lowering pch voltage to 1.0, I should be able to bypass the p67 bug as it is caused by too much voltage. I have been running 2 weeks at 1.0, havent seen even the slightest inkling that it causing problems.
